What is the difference between Personal Accident Insurance, Health Insurance and Travel Insurance?

Personal Accident Insurance provides coverage such as medical expenses and also compensation money when an accident occurs.

Health Insurance provides reimbursement for inpatient care costs, medicines, and other medical procedures that occur due to you being sick.

While Travel Insurance focuses more on protection during your trip such as travel delays/cancellations, lost luggage.

What are the risks covered?

The benefits of Personal Accident Insurance that are guaranteed include:

  • If the insured must be hospitalized due to an accident

  • If the insured suffers permanent disability (total or partial) due to an accident

  • If the insured dies due to an accident

What are the exceptions?

Some things that are not covered by Personal Accident Insurance are:

  • Not due to an accident:

    • Death that occurs not as a result of an accident.

    • Routine health checks or medical examinations that are not carried out for the purpose of treating injuries caused by accidents.

  • Intentional / Dangerous acts:

    • All losses arising from intentional or equivalent things.

    • The insured commits suicide / attempts to commit suicide, and the like.

    • Accidents that occur due to the insured's involvement in professional sports activities.

    • The insured is involved in military or police assignments or non-commercial flights or any dangerous sports activities.

    • Being a pilot or crew of any aircraft, skydiving or parachuting (except skydiving / tandem parachuting when done with a commercial company), gliding, hang-gliding, paragliding and any other aerospace activities.

  • Criminal acts / Unlawful:

    • The insured is sentenced to death by the court.

    • Criminal acts committed by the insured that cause losses.

    • The insured is on the terrorism list and blacklist.

  • Certain health conditions:

    • Any loss arising from pre-existing conditions, congenital conditions and hereditary conditions.

    • Any loss arising in relation to pregnancy or childbirth or fertility or beautification or other medical procedures that have been undergone previously.

    • Losses arising from mental or psychiatric disorders, alcohol or drug addiction.

    • Any loss arising from AIDS or HIV infection.

    • Any loss arising from sexually transmitted diseases.

    • Any loss arising from SARS-CoV-2, 2019 n-COV or Covid-19.

    • Diseases classified as epidemics or outbreaks, natural disasters, as declared by the government.

  • Any liability, cost or benefit for events outside the coverage period of this Policy.

Is there a waiting period?

There is no waiting period for this Personal Accident Insurance. Protection will be immediately active once you purchase this insurance. Is there a risk fee?

Is there a risk fee?

There is no risk fee in this Personal Accident Insurance. You do not need to pay any fees when filing a claim.

Can I have more than one policy?

If you have more than one Personal Accident Insurance policy, you can only file a claim to one policy for the same incident. However, as long as the compensation limit is still available, you can still file more than one claim to the same policy.

What are the claim document requirements?

General requirements, applicable to all guarantees:

  • Valid identity of the insured

  • Bank information for claim payment

Death guarantee requirements:

  • Valid identity of the heirs

Requirements for Accidental Medical Treatment guarantee:

  • Details of medical bill or bill payment receipt

  • Police certificate, as proof of Accident (specifically for driving accidents)

Requirements for Repatriation & Evacuation guarantee:

  • Receipt of payment of bill for Evacuation or Repatriation of bodies or ambulance rental.

  • Requirements for Damage or Loss of Personal Items

  • Police certificate, containing details of lost items and their nominal value (claim for lost items)

  • Police certificate, accompanied by details of damaged items and their nominal value (claim for damaged items due to accidents)

  • Evidence of damage, violence or coercion.

Requirements for Theft and Burglary of Residence guarantee:

  • Police statement that your Residence has been demolished

  • Details of items lost due to demolition

  • Photos of damage to the building that has been demolished

Requirements for Fire guarantee for Residence:

  • Police statement that your Residence has been burned

  • Photos of damage to the building that has been burned

  • Requirements for Lost Vehicle guarantee

  • Blocking Letter from the Police

  • STNK

Requirements for Vehicle Damage guarantee >75%:

  • Accident certificate from the Police

  • Driver's Driving License

  • STNK

  • Supporting evidence of total damage to the vehicle (eg: Photo of the Vehicle containing the Police number or a certificate from the sub-district office).

Requirements for Trip Cancellation coverage:

  • Proof of payment of travel expenses

  • Statement of non-refundable Travel expenses

  • Requirements for Trip Delay coverage

  • Statement from the Airline regarding the duration

  • Reason for delay

  • Requirements for Loss of Goods on Board coverage

  • Official statement/notification from the service provider, complete with date, time and information on lost/damaged baggage

Requirements for Third Party Liability coverage:

  • Chronology report

  • Evidence of claims from third parties

  • Other additional documents as stated in the Policy, as well as other supporting documents if needed.

How many times can I refer a claim?

In addition to the Death benefit, all other benefits can be claimed more than 1 (one) time during the coverage period and as long as the benefit limit is still available.

What is meant by permanent disability or temporary disability?

Permanent disability benefits are given if the accident results in permanent disability, while temporary disability benefits are given if the injury causes loss of ability to work for a limited time.

If I get sick, is my treatment covered?

Personal Accident Insurance only covers medical expenses that arise as a result of an accident. If you want to have protection against illness, you must purchase Health Insurance.

Who can be the beneficiary in the event of a fatal accident?

The beneficiary or heir is usually the closest family such as a spouse, child, or parent, as determined by the policyholder.
